Ahmedabad. Gujarat Police has arrested a Congress leader and an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) official for sharing ‘fake video’ of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The police gave this information on Tuesday. In this fake video, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shah is allegedly seen announcing the abolition of reservation rights of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Cell arrested two accused, identified as Satish Vansola, resident of Palanpur in Banaskantha and Rakesh Baria, resident of Limkheda town in Dahod district, police said in a release. It said preliminary investigation revealed that Vansola has been working as a personal assistant (PA) to Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani for the last six years, while Baria has been the president of AAP’s Dahod unit for the last four years.

Action against PM Jignesh Mevani
Vansola, who belongs to the Dalit community, is also the general secretary of Banaskantha District Congress. According to the release, an FIR has been registered against both of them under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and Section 505 (statements creating or promoting enmity between classes) of the Indian Penal Code. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime) Lavina Sinha said, “Both the accused had shared the edited video of Amit Shah on their Facebook pages. They found this video on his WhatsApp and investigation is still going on to nab the person who edited this video.
‘Shared the video by mistake’
After Vansola’s arrest, Mevani said that the Dalits of Banaskantha and Patan Lok Sabha seats will keep this action in mind during voting. Congress leader Mevani said, “Satish is not just my PA, he is like my brother.” BJP’s IT cell has been spreading fake videos for a long time but instead of taking any action against them, the police have arrested a common man like Satish, who had shared this video by mistake.
