Profile was created on LinkedIn using Amul’s name and people
The name of the famous milk producer company Amul is famous all over the world. However, some people thought of misusing the trademark of Amul’s name to make their profit. However, his plan cost him dearly and he was severely punished by the court under the trademark and copyright rules. Wrongful use of Amul’s name is punishable by a court penalty of $10,000 for trademark infringement, $5,000 for breach of the Copyright Act, and $17,733 for other expenses, totaling $32733.
As per the detailed information, some people in Canada under the trademark ‘Amul’ and ‘Amul – Test of India’ had created a fake profile of Amul on the LinkedIn platform. Due to which a case was registered against Mohit Rana, Akash Ghosh, Chandu Das and Patel in the Federal Court of Canada. Despite several attempts, none of the accused gave any representation. Due to which a case was registered in the court by Amul.
It was said by Amul that Amul has its own identity in the market. People have been cheated by using the name of Amul in this way by the accused. Amul’s reputation has also suffered due to this. Hearing this case, the Federal Court said that Amul had applied for default judgment. Due to which the court has asked the accused not to violate the trademark and copyright and within 30 days ordered Amul to give all the rights to their logo and social media pages.
