Expansion
The T20 series between India and Sri Lanka is over. Team India won the series by a margin of 3-0 and won the 12th T20 in a row. This series was very important in view of the preparations for the World Cup and Rohit has got answers to many questions. India’s team ‘B’ is also fully prepared for the World Cup to be held in Australia. Despite this, Rohit and Dravid will have to work on some important points and prepare the Indian team completely before the World Cup.
In the series against Sri Lanka, India won two matches chasing the target. At the same time, the first match was won against Sri Lanka by setting a big target. From this it is clear that India has no problem chasing or batting first, but it is necessary to work on poor fielding and opening pair.
middle order problem solved
The middle order batsmen of the Indian team were not performing well for a long time. Because of this, the entire team used to come under pressure as soon as the initial wickets of Team India fell and lost the match. This did not happen in this series. In all three matches, either Rohit or Kishan were dismissed cheaply, but Shreyas and Jadeja came and took over the innings. In the second match, Sanju Samson also contributed significantly to the middle order. Because of this, India won all the three matches easily. The middle-order batsmen made significant contributions in all the matches. Earlier in the series against West Indies too, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer had performed well in India’s middle order.
Hardik’s option found
Venkatesh Iyer is establishing himself as a replacement for Hardik Pandya. Iyer, who performed brilliantly against the West Indies, did not get much opportunities in this series. Only in the last match he got a chance to bat and he could not do much in it. With the ball, he took two wickets in the first match. Iyer did well during the fielding as well. Iyer’s performance in all three departments of the game has been phenomenal.
India’s team ‘B’ ready
Players like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Lokesh Rahul were not playing in this series, but in their absence, the Indian team performed brilliantly. India won all the matches by a huge margin. The special thing in this was that players like Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Avesh Khan performed well in every match, whose place in the team is not confirmed. From this it is clear that India’s team ‘B’ is ready and in case of injury to any player during the World Cup, new players are ready to perform well in their place.
Opening pair became a new problem
The opening pair has become a new problem for India. Captain Rohit Sharma is also not looking in the rhythm and he has not been able to play big innings for the last several matches. At the same time, his opening partner is constantly changing. Rahul is India’s main opener with Rohit, but in the last few matches, Rohit has opened with Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and even Pant in ODIs. In such a situation, India will have to decide its opening pair soon and start the innings in a good way.
Fielding needs improvement
India’s fielding has been poor for the last two series. Team India won all the matches during this and the bowlers also took wickets. This does not show the weakness of poor fielding. India’s last two series have been against teams like West Indies and Sri Lanka, but dropping a catch against Australia or England will not give the Indian team a second chance.
