New Delhi: Nunzio Quacquarelli, Chairman of QS University Rankings, has praised India for leading all G20 countries in QS subject ranking performance this year. In a LinkedIn post, Quacquarelli shared some results of the latest QS World University Rankings based on topics related to the Indian higher education system.
“This year, Indian universities improved their performance the most among all G20 countries – their average ranking improved by a significant 14 percent (year-on-year),” Quacquarelli wrote. He said, “India’s progress on the global stage has undoubtedly been helped by visionary policies like the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Quacquarelli also mentioned that he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss global higher education trends.

He said, “During our excellent conversation, it became clear that PM Modi has a commitment to revolutionizing Indian education, which is reflected in the ambitious goals of the NEP.” In the latest subject rankings, Indian higher education institutions have improved their rankings in STEM subjects, biological sciences and business studies. As stated in the report, NEP brought positive changes in higher education in the country on a large scale.
“By approving NEP 2020, the central government under the leadership of PM Modi has defined the vision of India’s new education system,” the report said. Across Asia, India now ranks second in the number of universities featured in the QS subject rankings.
