New Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is lodged in Tihar jail. According to the jail manual, legal meetings can take place once a week. In special circumstances, he can be allowed to meet someone twice more, but Arvind Kejriwal has demanded from the court to meet him 5 days every week. ED has opposed this demand of Kejriwal. ED lawyer Zoheb Hussain has told the court that Kejriwal’s demand is against the jail manual. ED’s lawyer has also told the court that Kejriwal intends to run the government from Tihar jail. They cannot be given privileges for this.
Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application with ED Judge Kaveri Baweja in Rouse Avenue Court, demanding a meeting 5 days every week. Now the judge will give her verdict on this application of Arvind Kejriwal on April 9. Kejriwal has argued in his application that there are FIRs against him in many states. In such a situation, there is a lot of legal work also. For this reason, they should be given 5 days time every week to meet. Arvind Kejriwal had given the names of 6 people who met him to the Tihar Jail administration. These also include his wife Sunita Kejriwal and 2 children. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21. Presently he is lodged in Tihar Jail in judicial custody till 15th April.
ED has described Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin i.e. the main accused in the Delhi liquor scam case. ED has also told the Delhi High Court that Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is like a company under Section 70 of the PMLA Act. Apart from Manish Sisodia, who was the Deputy CM in the Kejriwal government, and MP Sanjay Singh, many other accused were arrested in the liquor scam. Recently, Sanjay Singh has got bail from the Supreme Court. Some accused have also become government witnesses. ED claims that there is strong evidence against all the accused including Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam. ED says that out of the Rs 100 crore liquor scam amount, Rs 45 crore was spent during the Goa Assembly elections. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal and his party people say that there was no liquor scam.
