New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arrested in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam, could not get relief from the Supreme Court even today. The bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta, after hearing the arguments of both the parties on Kejriwal’s interim bail application, without giving any order, fixed May 9 for the next hearing in the case.
Earlier on May 3, the Supreme Court bench, while hearing the interim bail plea of AAP convener Kejriwal, had made a big comment saying that bail can be granted in view of the elections. After this, speculations were being made that perhaps Arvind Kejriwal might get relief from the Supreme Court today. On this SV Raju said that it is based on the benefits of the policy. During the hearing of the case today, the Supreme Court sought answers to serious questions from the ED. Justice Khanna asked, you had said that the total crime is worth Rs 100 crore, then how did it become Rs 1100 crore in two years? Justice Khanna also asked that you are saying that being the head of the government, Kejriwal is an accused, then how did it take you two years to reach this conclusion?
At the same time, the Supreme Court told Kejriwal’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi that if we grant bail to Kejriwal, will he also fulfill his official responsibilities? The Supreme Court said that we are considering your interim bail only in view of the elections. At the same time, ED gave arguments opposing the bail plea of Kejriwal. The bench also asked Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the ED, to present the case files before and after the arrest of former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, arrested in the same case.
