Talking about the prominent leaders who have entered the electoral fray in Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal of Shiromani Akali Dal is from Lambi assembly seat, Charanjit Singh Channi of Congress from Bhadaur and Chamkaur Sahib seats, Captain Amarinder Singh of Patiala Urban seat, Congress from Amritsar East seat. Navjot Singh Sidhu is trailing in the counting of votes.

It is being speculated that the present Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi will tender his resignation as soon as the results are confirmed in the evening. He may soon submit his resignation to the Governor.
