The results of the assembly elections held in Punjab are being announced. This time there was an all-out contest between Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Akali alliance and BJP. However, you seem to be doing great so far. The BJP started looking for new avenues in Punjab after the Shiromani Akali Dal lost its support due to the farmers’ movement. After this, the controversy between Congress and former CM Captain Amarinder Singh took a new turn in the politics of the state.
Amarinder broke away from Congress and formed Punjab Lok Congress. After the return of all three agricultural laws, BJP started a new innings with the help of Captain and emerged in the role of elder brother. Here BJP contested 65 seats, PLC 37 and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s Shiromani Akali Dal (United) contested 15 seats.
To capitalize on this opportunity, PM Modi held three physical rallies mainly in the state. One rally had to be canceled due to security reasons. This was the same rally when PM Modi’s convoy was being stuck on the middle road. The PM also campaigned through virtual means and tried to persuade the public to vote for the BJP and its alliance. In such a situation, it remains to be seen what was the effect on the seats of PM’s rally.
BJP behind on nine seats in Jalandhar
PM Modi had campaigned for the BJP in Jalandhar on February 14. There are total nine assembly seats under Jalandhar district. These include Phillaur, Nakodar, Shahkot, Kartarpur, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North, Jalandhar Cantt and Adampur. Here BJP has fielded six, PLC two and Samyukta Akali one candidate. BJP is trailing in all these seats.
BJP ahead on one seat in Pathankot, behind on two
PM Modi campaigned in Pathankot after Jalandhar. There are three assembly seats under Pathankot. These include Sujanpur, Bhoa and Pathankot. The BJP had fielded candidates on these three seats. In this, the fate of Punjab BJP President Ashwini Kumar Sharma was also in the hands of the public. At present, the public seems to be going with them. However, the BJP is trailing in the remaining two seats.
PM Modi’s magic did not work even in Abohar
PM Modi held a rally in Abohar on February 17. Abohar falls in the Fazilka district of Punjab and has four assembly seats under Fazilka. These include Jalalabad, Fazilka, Abohar and Balluana seats. Here too BJP had fielded its candidates in all the four seats and BJP is trailing in all the seats.
Now let’s talk about Ferozepur
PM Modi was supposed to hold a rally in Ferozepur on January 5. The PM had also reached Punjab from Delhi. From here they left for Ferozepur by road. After a while news came that PM’s rally has been canceled due to security reasons. After this the pictures of PM’s convoy stuck in traffic started going viral. Politics also took place in the matter. If we talk about Ferozepur, then there are four assembly seats under it. These include Zira, Ferozepur City, Ferozepur Rural and Guru Har Sahaye seat. Here also all the four candidates were fielded by the BJP. All the candidates are trailing.
