Ayurveda doctors are entitled to the same salary as allopaths. Saying this, the Supreme Court dismissed the special leave petition of the state government against the order to give equal pay to Ayurveda doctors of Uttarakhand at par with allopathy doctors. The Court said that we wish to clarify that the respondents who are Ayurveda doctors should be treated at par with Allopathy Medical Officers and Dental Medical Officers under the National Rural Health Mission. Ayurveda doctors have got huge relief from this order of the court.
Giving this clarification, a bench of Justices Vineet Sharan and JK Maheshwari dismissed the petition against the order of the Uttarakhand High Court. The court said that the petitioner state wants to file a review petition before the High Court, but the court cannot give any direction in this regard. The option is open to the petitioner to take any relief available under the law.
The state government had filed a special leave petition against the order dated 3 April 2018 of the Uttarakhand High Court. In this order, the High Court had directed Ayurveda doctors to pay the same pay scale as allopathy doctors.
