Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray shared an anecdote that Bal Thackeray stood in support of Narendra Modi after the Godhra riots in Gujarat. Thackeray said, ‘Modi Hatao’ campaign was being run after the riots. Then LK Advani came to Mumbai for a rally. He asked Balasaheb whether Modi should be removed. To this he replied that do not even try to touch him. If Modi went, he went to Gujarat.
Thackeray further said, “Even today we have a connection with Modi, but it does not mean that there should be an alliance. This statement of Uddhav has come when questions are being raised on him regarding Hindutva. After the loudspeaker controversy and Hanuman Chalisa recitation in front of Uddhav’s house, other opponents including MNS accused him of being anti-Hindu.
Addressing a public meeting, Thackeray said that the central government is misusing the agencies. He said agencies like CBI and ED may soon face opposition in Maharashtra as they faced in West Bengal.
He said, everything has a limit. Now central agencies are afraid to go to West Bengal. It should not happen that the same situation should happen in other states also. Officers are beaten. The central government should not use them for political gains. The Prime Minister belongs to the whole country. They should fight against the enemies of the country.
