Expansion
NAL reported that on February 19, the ship was moved to Puducherry, 140 nautical miles away. It covered this distance in 1.5 hours at a speed of 155 kmph. The test was aimed at assessing its operational merits, ascent/sea field performance, landing efficiency, structural performance, power plant and other techniques. It passed all the tests and reached Bengaluru on 5 March after completing 18 hours of flight in Puducherry.
Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) was piloted by Wing Commander KV Prakash and Wing Commander Dilip Reddy. This was monitored by NAL and Riju Chakraborty, Wing Commander of Telemetry, was the Flight Test Director.
NAL director Jitendra J. Jadhav said that a few more flights will be completed before getting the certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for this airplane, which has completed more than 50 hours of flight in 37 times. The certification process is likely to be completed by April. After this, its manufacturing will be started in government and private industries. With this the ‘Self-reliant India’ campaign will go ahead.
Low price and low oil cost
NAL said that the Hansa-NG is a state-of-the-art flying trainer. It has Rotex digital control engine. It also boasts of unique just in time prepreg composite lightweight airframe, glass cockpit, bubble canopy with wide panoramic view, electrically operated flaps etc. It caters to the needs of the Flying Club of India. Due to its low cost and low fuel consumption, it is suitable for commercial pilot licensing. NAL has already received 80 letters of intent in this regard from various flying clubs.
