New Delhi. BCCI, elated with the Indian team’s resounding victory over England in the Test cricket series, has made a big announcement for the players. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah announced the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’, which will be an additional reward on top of the existing match fees. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah made a post on the social media platform and wrote that I am happy to announce the launch of ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for the men’s Test cricket team. Its purpose is to provide financial growth and stability to our athletes.

He further wrote that starting from the 2022-23 season, the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ will serve as an additional reward structure on top of the existing match fee of Rs 15 lakh for Test matches. The BCCI increased the per-match fee from the existing Rs 15 lakh to Rs 45 lakh for players who participate in seven or more Test matches in a season.
Whereas the players who are part of the playing-11 in 50 percent of the matches will get a total of Rs 30 lakh per match, while the players who are part of the team in the same number of matches will get Rs 15 lakh per match. At the same time, if a player plays less than 50 percent of the matches, he will not get any incentive, only match fee of Rs 15 lakh per match will be given. The move is believed to come in the wake of a BCCI directive last month asking Indian cricketers to prioritize participating in domestic cricket when they are not representing the national team.
