Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Sunday warned of attempts to divide Tamils on the basis of caste and religion and said, “We must remain united as Tamils”. Stalin said at an iftar function here that religion and related things are a matter of personal preference, but we all should remain united as Tamils.
The Chief Minister said, some people are trying to divide Tamils in the name of caste and religion. They believe that by doing so only they can end the existence of Tamils. Stalin said, by dividing us they are trying to thwart our development. The Tamil community should not get caught up in this. He should understand the conspiracy behind such an attempt.
He said that only all-round peace can lead to all kinds of progress and that his government in the 11 months of coming to power has ensured a conducive environment for such development. The DMK chief said, “That’s why I say that the all-inclusive Dravidian model is taking Tamil Nadu to the first position among the best states.” On the ‘controversial’ amended Citizenship Act, Stalin said he had moved a resolution against it in the state assembly last year, calling for its repeal.
