Because the current process is quite cumbersome for those doing transferable jobs (also called transfer jobs in common parlance) of central or state government. In this situation, he needed such a number plate, which he could use in every part of the country. Initially BH series number plates will be provided only to state, central government employees and defense personnel.
How Bharat Series Number Plate Will Help:
Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act allows the owner of a vehicle to keep or drive his vehicle in another state for a period of not less than 12 months. But after 12 months, it is mandatory for the owner to transfer the registration of the vehicle to the new state where it is being driven or kept. This is the time where BH Series number plates provide better convenience to the vehicle owners. Because there will be no need to transfer the registration of vehicles having BH series number plates from the original state to the new state.

Clearly, the applicant must be a citizen of India to apply for BH number plate. At present, the BH number plate is mainly for those people who are working with the state or central government or are employed in the defense sector. How to decode BH number plate:
The BH number plate is similar in appearance to the normal number plate – as the black font is used on a white background. But unlike traditional number plates, BH series plates begin with two digits, followed by BH, then four digits, and then two letters. So for example consider it like this, if a BH series number plate which is like- (21 BH 5555 AA) it means the vehicle was registered in the year 2021, ‘BH’ stands for India , ‘5555’ is the vehicle registration number and ‘AA’ is used for the vehicle category.
For BH number plate, the amount to be spent is:
BH Series number plate application cost is divided into three different sections. For vehicles costing less than 10 lakhs, the applicant will have to pay 8 per cent of the cost of the vehicle, which will be charged as the fee for BH series number plate application. The rate of tax will be 10 per cent on a vehicle costing between Rs 10 and 20 lakh. If the value of the vehicle is more than Rs 20 lakh, then the owner will have to pay 12 per cent of the cost of the vehicle to get the BH series number plate.

The biggest advantage of BH series number plate is that there will be no need to transfer its registration to drive vehicles with this number plate in any state of the country. Apart from this, it also saves from the hassle of NOC (Non Objection Certificate) etc., which are usually obtained at the time of transfer of vehicles.
