new Delhi. Bhagwant Mann, Lok Sabha MP from Sangrur, Punjab has resigned from the membership of Parliament. Aam Aadmi Party MP Mann on Monday met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and submitted his resignation from the membership of the Lok Sabha. Bhagwant Mann is going to take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on 16th March. Bhagwant Mann was elected Lok Sabha MP for two terms from Punjab on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket. In the assembly elections held this time in Punjab, AAP had made Bhagwant Mann its chief ministerial candidate. After the thumping majority of the party in Punjab, Mann is now going to become the next Chief Minister of the state, so he has resigned from the membership of the Lok Sabha.
Describing serving the whole of Punjab a few hours before his resignation, Mann tweeted: “Going to Delhi today I am resigning as Sangrur MP. People of Sangrur have given me so much love for so many years, so so much Thank you. Now I have got a chance to serve the whole of Punjab. I promise the people of Sangrur that in the next few months their voice will reverberate in the Lok Sabha.”
AAP had won 92 of the 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections. Bhagwant Mann has won the election from Dhuri assembly seat of the state. He is going to take oath as Chief Minister on March 16 at Khatkar Kalan, the village of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
