St. Michael’s Cricket Academy Red entered the semi-finals of the 1st Syed Shakeel Mohammad Memorial T20 cricket tournament with the help of Salman Baig’s scintillating half-century of 66 runs. St Michael’s Academy defeated Ankur Academy by eight wickets in the first qualifying match. In another match, NCCC defeated Arera Academy by seven wickets.
In the match played at the local Old Campion ground, Ankur Academy scored a respectable score of 145 while batting first. In this, junior Dubey contributed 66 runs and the eminent Pasi contributed 37 runs. Zeeshan, Arbaaz and Usman of St. Michael’s Academy took three wickets. Playing counter-innings, St. Michael Red entered the finals by getting the winning target of two wickets with the help of Salman Bag 66 and Sameer Qureshi 52 runs. Man of the match Salman Baig was adjudged.
In the second match, Arera Cricket Academy was reduced to just 100 runs while batting first. Ashwin Das played the highest innings of 33 runs. Sandeep of NCCC took three wickets. In reply, NCCC achieved the winning target by losing three wickets. Sandeep Singh became the man of the match. The prize distribution was done by MPCA President Abhilash Khandekar and senior cricketer Sohail Ansari and senior cricketer Saaduddin. Syed Aban Shakeel, Secretary, St Michael’s Cricket Academy, was present on the occasion.
A total of eight teams are participating
Teams from eight prestigious academies of the capital are participating in this invitational cricket tournament. Organizing Secretary Aban Shakeel told that his father Syed Shakeel Mohammad has contributed significantly to the cricket of Bhopal. It is being organized in his memory. So better facilities are being given to all the teams.
