Shimla. The Congress party is facing continuous setbacks in Himachal Pradesh. Now another leader has refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Party state president and sitting MP Pratibha Singh has refused to contest again from Mandi Lok Sabha seat. Pratibha Singh, who returned to Shimla after meeting with the Congress Working Committee from Delhi, had an important conversation with the media.
Talking to the media at Hollyodge in Shimla, Pratibha Singh said that she has told the high command that she will not contest the elections and has also withdrawn her name.
With her statement, Pratibha once again targeted her own Sukhu government and said that elections cannot be fought merely by distributing MP funds. Our workers are disappointed. Today no active worker is visible who will work for the party. Workers play an important role for the party.
According to Pratibha Singh, I told the government many times that importance should be given to the workers. I have been in the field continuously. I don’t think we will get success in these circumstances. He told that he will help whichever candidate is decided.
Pratibha said that in the meeting the CM said that elections are to be held in the last phase in Himachal. In such a situation, after conducting the survey, the party will declare its candidate. Pratibha said that by-elections have become necessary to save the government. The resentment of the workers will have to be removed. We will have to work day and night, only then we will be able to win the by-elections. On the question of consensus regarding the allocation of tickets, Pratibha Singh said that some names have been shortlisted. There will be brainstorming and survey on these names. The name coming number one in the survey will be given a ticket.
Earlier Ramlal had refused
Meanwhile, while talking to AnyTV, Congress veteran Ram Lal Thakur, 5-time MLA from Naina Devi of Bilaspur and 4-time minister, has also expressed his desire not to contest the elections. Ram Lal Thakur’s name is being discussed as a possible candidate of Congress from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency. Ram Lal Thakur has advised the party high command that in view of the present circumstances, a strong leader should be made a candidate from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, Hamirpur, the home district of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, or Una, the home district of Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri. He described Congress party as strong in Hamirpur parliamentary constituency and also targeted BJP. Last time also he was in the election field but lost the election.
