Prayagraj. SP leader and former MP Mohammad Azam Khan got a big blow from the Allahabad High Court on Monday. The petition of Azam Khan’s Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust was rejected by the High Court. Allahabad High Court rejected the petition filed against the termination of the lease of the trust in Rampur by the UP government. Azam Khan’s Rampur Public School was running on leased land. After not getting relief from the High Court, now Azam Khan’s Rampur Public School will be locked. Apart from the school, many other buildings were also built on the land given on lease. The court had reserved its judgment on December 18 after the completion of the hearing in this case. The division bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Kshitij Shailendra gave the verdict.
In the hearing held last year, lawyers on behalf of the UP government and Maulana Johar Ali Trust had presented arguments in the High Court. On behalf of Johar Trust, the government’s decision to cancel the lease was said to be wrong. The lease of land given to Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust was canceled by the UP government. The decision to cancel the lease of land given to the trust by the UP government was challenged. After the order of the Supreme Court, Allahabad High Court was conducting the hearing. Reference was made to the SIT report filed by the UP government.
The Supreme Court had directed for immediate hearing of the petition filed by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust of SP leader Azam Khan. During the then SP government of UP, the entire campus including the building of Murtaza Higher Secondary School of Rampur was given to Maulana Mohammad Johar Trust on a 99-year lease. After the lease of the land was cancelled, an order was issued to close the Rampur Public School running on it. Due to the intervention of the High Court, the school was allowed to remain open for a few days last year.
