Former Australian cricketer and commentator Michael Slater has been sent to police custody after facing charges including assault and stalking. According to the Guardian, 54-year-old Slater has been charged with more than a dozen crimes including unlawful stalking or menacing, assault, night-time trespass, assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation.
Total 19 charges against Slater
Slater’s case appeared in Queensland’s Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday. He faces a total of 19 charges for alleged offenses on the Sunshine Coast on various dates between December 5 and April 12 last year. Local police confirmed the arrest of a 54-year-old man from Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast last Friday following several days of alleged domestic violence incidents. Slater has also been charged with 10 counts of breaching bail and breaching a ‘domestic violence order’.

Slater, a right-handed former Australian opening batsman, played 74 Test and 42 ODI matches between 1993 and 2003. Slater made his Test debut against England on June 3, 1993. Whereas, Slater made his ODI debut on December 9, 1993. Slater scored 5312 runs in Tests with the help of 14 centuries. At the same time, he has 987 runs in his name in ODI.
