Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has got a big relief on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court temporarily stayed Singh’s arrest till July 5. It is reported that during this time the Punjab government will also not be able to take any action against the BJP leader. The special thing is that even before this, the High Court had stayed the arrest of Bagga till May 10 during the midnight hearing.
This month, the Punjab Police registered a case against the BJP leader for making provocative statements, spreading religious hatred and making criminal threats to Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP had strongly opposed the arrest of Bagga for allegedly threatening Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal.
On Sunday, Bagga thanked the court and the Minorities Commission through a video and message for restraining him from arrest. He had said, “I thank the Punjab and Haryana High Court as well as the Minorities Commission for showing yesterday that law works in this country.” Minorities Commission has sent a notice to the Punjab government for not allowing me to wear a turban, we cannot go out without a turban.
The Punjab Police had arrested Bagga on Friday from his Delhi residence. However, he was stopped in Haryana while being taken to Punjab and brought back to Delhi shortly after. The BJP leader, who reached Delhi, later claimed that the Punjab Police barged into his house in large numbers and arrested him.
