The results of the elections held on 24 seats of the Legislative Council Local Authority i.e. MLC came on Thursday. The result has changed the look of the house. Even though the order of priority of the parties has not changed but the position of the opposition has become stronger than before. The biggest beneficiary has been to Lalu’s party RJD. Now he will get the status of Leader of Opposition. Due to less than 7 seats in the 75-member house, the RJD did not have the Leader of the Opposition status. Now Rabri Devi can get this post.

JD(U) retains the status of the largest party even after winning only five out of 24 seats. It already had 23 MLCs. In this way, JDU now has 28 members in the Legislative Council. The BJP has got seven seats and already had 15 members. In this way, with 22 members, BJP will be the second party in the Legislative Council. The BJP was at number two even before this. RJD has got six seats in this election and five were already members. Now RJD has 11 MLCs.

Congress had three members and this time it has won one seat. The Congress now has four members. The CPI has two members. This time CPI has not got any seat. VIP has also been out for zero in this election. There is already a member of VIP, which has not changed now. In this way, there are 52 members in the Legislative Council of NDA.

28 of JD(U), 22 of BJP, one from RLJP and one from Hum. RLJP will be the new party in the Legislative Council. Out of 75, 52 members i.e. more than two-thirds have become ANIDA members. NDA will get big benefit from this. Be it passing any bill, budget or any other proposal, a majority is required in the house. The opposition now has 11 members from RJD, four from Congress, two from CPI, ie a total of 17 members. The number of independent members in the Legislative Council has gone up to five.
