Economy in recession and Kashmir boring issue
Shahzad Chowdhary, an expert on India-Pakistan affairs, has written an article in the Express Tribune. He has written in it that Bajwa had retired in November 2022. Whatever allegations have been leveled against him, it is not known how true they are. But Pakistan’s India policy has not changed till date. Even if he wanted to change it, he could not do so. According to him, Pakistan’s economy is going through a recession.
The political situation of the country is very bad. Also, now Kashmir and India-Pakistan have become a boring and stale issue for the world. He says that India is moving fast in the world at the economic and political level. The people of Kashmir have been paying the price for this issue for the last several years. According to them, whatever arguments are given by Pakistan regarding this issue, they are completely of low level. He says that one has to think about Kashmir because the people here have suffered a lot.
Trade and LoC separate issues
Shahzad Chowdhary says that there is a need for dialogue at the bilateral and international level to improve the lives of the people of Kashmir. Kashmiris are followed by Pakistanis who are going through the worst economic nightmare since partition. These people need relief and employment so that they can live a good life.
The dream of a vibrant economy will be realized only when trade with India resumes. Pakistan will have to revive relations with India on a regional basis. He says that trade needs to be kept active by separating it from Kashmir and LoC. If resources are to be made available to everyone in Pakistan, then there is a dire need to increase connectivity and dialogue.
Why does Pakistan need India
Pakistan’s famous politician Shahzad believes that all this can run in parallel streams and can be taken forward in a different way. He says that things which are easy and can be done easily should be given priority. Today India may not need Pakistan. But Pakistan needs India the most. Strategically, this is probably a bad position but has to be thought about. It is better to curtail this relationship to a strategic co-relation and it is possible at this point in time, before it deteriorates further. Talking to the enemy in a reciprocal manner is also a form of taking advantage and is the first step to turn it into an advantage.
