New Delhi. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and former MP from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Singh died on Saturday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He was 72 years old. Voting was completed in Moradabad on Friday (April 19) in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar was among the 12 candidates who were contesting from Moradabad parliamentary constituency.
Uttar Pradesh BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary told PTI, “Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Singh has passed away. He had some problem in his throat and had undergone an operation, on April 19 he went to AIIMS for examination and today he passed away.”
Kunwar Sarvesh was nominated by BJP from Moradabad in 2014 and he won the election, but in 2019 he was defeated by Dr. S.T. Hasan of Samajwadi Party (SP). Hasan was the joint candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In this Lok Sabha elections also, BJP had made Kunwar Sarvesh its candidate from Moradabad and his main rival was considered to be SP’s Ruchi Veera.
Kunwar Sarvesh had also been a five-time MLA from Thakurdwara assembly seat of Moradabad district. His father Rampal Singh was elected MP from Amroha from Congress in 1984. Condoling the demise of the former MP, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “Shocked by the demise of BJP candidate and former MP Kunwar Sarvesh Singh from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency. This is an irreparable loss for the BJP family.”
Yogi said, “My condolences are with the bereaved family. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place at his feet and the bereaved family members and their supporters the strength to bear this loss. Om Shanti.”
Bhupendra Singh Choudhary also took to social media and expressed his condolences. He prayed for strength to the supporters of the BJP leader and his bereaved family. The UP BJP chief wrote on “The demise of Sarvesh Singh is an irreparable loss not only for Moradabad but also for the Uttar Pradesh BJP family.”
He further said, “I pray to Shri Ram Chandra Ji to give place to the departed soul at his feet and to give strength to his supporters and the bereaved family to bear this unbearable grief. My condolences are with the bereaved family.” In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, more than 60 percent voting took place in eight seats of Western Uttar Pradesh on April 19, in which if we talk about Moradabad, there was 60.60% voting there.
