New Delhi. CBI has filed its final charge sheet in Sonali Phogat’s murder case. For a long time appeals were made by many people including Manohar Lal Khattar to investigate Sonali’s murder under suspicious circumstances at Curlies Bar in Goa. Sonali’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder have been accused of murder by forcibly giving them drugs. Both were arrested at the same time for Sonali’s murder. Now the CBI has filed a charge sheet against both. CBI sources have given this information. According to the information received, the charge sheet has been filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa.
Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, who were arrested by the bureau in the Sonali Phogat murder case, were interrogated in Kolwale Jail. The CBI has also examined the documents of the Goa Police, which run into more than 500 pages. The statements of the witnesses have also been recorded in it. The CBI also recreated the crime scene of Curly, where Phogat was allegedly drugged.
CM Khattar and Khap Mahapanchayat demanded CBI inquiry in Sonali murder case
It is noteworthy that the demand for CBI inquiry in Sonali Phogat murder case was made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Khap Panchayat of Haryana. He appealed to the government to explain the matter as soon as possible and CBI inquiry is very necessary to find out the truth. After this the state government had transferred the Phogat murder case to the CBI. Sonali Phogat’s daughter Yashodhara Phogat also demanded a CBI inquiry. Yashodhara had also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this.
Goa police did not find anything special during investigation
Let us tell you that the Goa police probing the murder case had not yet found any specific clue, nor did they reach any motive for the ‘murder’. Initially, the Goa Police had registered a case of unnatural death, but after the postmortem report came, a case of murder was registered.
Let us tell you that earlier during the investigation, the police had said that Sonali Phogat was forced to drink methamphetamine drugs (meth) by the accused at the famous restaurant-cum-night club Curlies on Anjuna beach. Earlier this month, Edwin Nunes, the owner of Curlies restaurant, was arrested by the Telangana Police from Anjuna in Goa in a drug case. Nunes was among five people arrested following the death of Sonali Phogat this September. He was later released on bail. However, the Goa Police could not collect any specific evidence in this entire case, after which the case was transferred to the CBI by the Haryana Police.
