Ranchi. The Bharatiya Janata Party has used its trump card to mount a direct challenge in the stronghold of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in Jharkhand. While releasing its fifth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP has made Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren its candidate from Dumka in Jharkhand. The most surprising thing is that the tickets of sitting MPs have been canceled on all three seats. Sita Soren had recently left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and joined BJP. Sita Soren has been made the candidate from Dumka. She is the elder daughter-in-law of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha President Shibu Soren and sister-in-law of former CM Hemant Soren.
Sunil Soren’s ticket canceled from Dumka
Sita Soren was elected to the Jharkhand Assembly for the third consecutive time from Jama seat of Santhal Pargana area. After joining BJP, he resigned from the membership of the Assembly. In its first list, BJP had announced to re-nominate sitting MP Sunil Soren from this seat, but now in the second list, Sita Soren has been dropped and brought in. Sita Soren had resigned from JMM alleging isolation by the party leaders in JMM. Sita Sorane’s husband died in 2009. On March 2, BJP had given ticket to outgoing MP Sunil Soren in its first list. Sunil Soren had defeated Jharkhand Mukti Morcha President Shibu Soren from this seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the fifth list, BJP announced the names of its candidates from Dumka, Chatra and Dhanwad seats. Apart from Dumka, Kalicharan Singh from Chatra and Dhulu Mahato from Dhanwad have been made candidates.
Dhullu Mahato replaces PN Singh in Dhanvaad
This time, Baghmara assembly constituency MLA Dhullu Mahato has been fielded in place of PN Singh, who was elected MP from Dhanbad seat for three consecutive times. It was already believed that PN Singh would be dropped on the basis of age, but the party has surprised everyone by giving ticket to Dhullu Mahato in his place. His name was not discussed far and wide. Local leader Kalicharan Singh has been made the candidate in place of Sunil Singh, who was elected from Chatra seat for two consecutive terms. He is currently the state vice president of BJP. Kalicharan, a resident of Sonbigha village of Chatra, has held organizational positions in the district and block committees of the party. This is the first time that a local person has been made a candidate from Chatra. The ticket of Sunil Singh, the sitting MP of this seat, has been canceled on the basis of anti-incumbency report.
