The BJP has demanded the Election Commission to allow voters to carry mobiles in the switched off mode at the polling station. Akhilesh Awasthi, in-charge of the Election Commission Liaison Department, said that the BJP delegation has met the CEO in this regard. He said that the security personnel posted at the booth do not allow the voter with the mobile to cast his vote.
The voter is asked to return the phone and come back. In such a situation, the voter does not come to the polling place again to cast his vote. Such complaints have been received in the first four phases of polling in the state.
He said that on one hand the Commission has set up selfie points outside the polling booth, while on the other hand mobiles have been banned. this is wrong.
