New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its plan in North-East. Here in three states, BJP has announced support to regional parties. On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced that it would support regional parties in Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland. BJP in-charge for North-East Sambit Patra has given this information. He has also made a post regarding this on X.
BJP will support these parties
The BJP has said it will support the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on both the Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya and the Naga People’s Front (NPF) on one of the two parliamentary seats in Manipur. Apart from this, the ruling party at the Center has also announced to support the state’s ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on the sole Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland.
Sambit Patra gave information on X
BJP in-charge for North-East region Sambit Patra made this announcement on ‘X’. In a post on the social media platform, Sambit Patra said, “As per the instructions of BJP President J.P. Nadda, I am happy to inform that the BJP will elect NPP Lok Sabha candidates from both the seats (Shillong and Tura) of Meghalaya, outsiders. Will extend its support to NPF in Manipur constituency and NDPP in Nagaland in the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2024.”
What was the result of 2019 elections?
Let us tell you that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had contested two seats in Meghalaya and one seat in Manipur, but it had to face defeat. The NPF and NDPP had won the seats on which the BJP had supported them in 2019. The NPP had won one of the two seats in Meghalaya. Sources said the political fallout of the caste conflict in Manipur has probably forced the BJP to support these regional parties in these constituencies, where the Christian community has a large population. These regional parties have often supported the BJP-led government at the Centre.
