Korba (Naiduniya News). BK Welfare Society won the final match in the women’s cricket competition organized by the district administration on the occasion of International Women’s Day. BK Welfare Society team registered an easy victory by defeating BRC Korba team by 9 wickets in the final match. In the final match, the winning team BK Welfare Society was given 25 thousand rupees in cash and trophy. Along with this, the team of runner-up BRC Korba was given 15 thousand rupees in cash and trophy prize.
Korba Lok Sabha constituency MP Jyotsna Mahant attended the final match as the chief guest. He also wished the runners-up team not to be disappointed and to keep performing well in the game. While addressing the players, MP Mahant said that all the players who fight in the competition are great. He said that women are progressing in every field. While encouraging the players, the MP asked them to keep hitting fours and sixes of happiness in life as well. He gave best wishes to play at international level while performing well in the game and also wished to bring laurels to Korba and the country. On this occasion, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Rajkishore Prasad said that women power is no less than anyone. Women are continuously moving ahead in every field. Women are also presenting new dimensions in the field of sports, social sector, politics, administration, management, education and health. Collector Ranu Sahu while encouraging the women players said that victory or defeat does not matter. It is a big deal to come out to play by removing your hesitation in the field. This is also an example of women empowerment. He encouraged women and said that crossing their limits and taking a step towards their desires is also an example of women empowerment. He encouraged the women sportspersons to be happy themselves and also contribute to the happiness of their family and society. During this, Municipal Corporation Chairman Shyam Sundar Soni, Member of Chhattisgarh Women’s Commission Archana Upadhyay, Additional Collector Sunil Nayak, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prabhakar Pandey along with public representatives and officers-employees of administration, sports lovers and citizens were present.
Player of the Series Award to Madhu Markam
The Player of the Series award was given to Madhu Markam of BK Welfare for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament. In the final match of the competition, the team of BRC Korba, batting first, scored 52 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 12 overs. Chasing the target, the team of BK Welfare won the match in the fifth over at the loss of one wicket. Sneha performed brilliantly for the BK Welfare team and played a brilliant innings of 42 runs in 18 balls with the help of seven fours and one six. Sneha was given the Man of the Match award for this performance. In the competition, Shama Faiz, the captain of the BK Welfare team, was given a reward of two thousand and one hundred rupees as the best keeper. Rehana Fatima of the team of Police Department was declared the Best Fielder. Santoshi Bhoi of BRC Korba team was given a reward of two thousand one hundred rupees as the best bowler.
