Bhilai. Jamul Police has registered an FIR against the accused who blackmailed the councilor by accusing him of becoming a councilor by contesting the election on the basis of fake caste proof. The accused had objected to the caste certificate at the time of election.
Even after the objection was rejected, he continued to harass the councilor. He demanded five lakh rupees from the councilor through a person. On non-receipt of money, the accused filed a petition in the court. After this the councilor complained to Jamul police station. Based on which the police have registered an FIR against the accused under the section of Extortion.
Jamul police station in-charge Gaurav Pandey said that on the complaint of Kavita Biswal, councilor of ward 13 Lavkush Nagar of Nagar Palika Parishad Jamul, an FIR has been registered against accused Santosh Das, resident of Shivpuri Jamul. Councilor Kavita Biswal had contested from the ward reserved for Other Backward Classes. The complainant had also submitted the OBC certificate to contest the election.
Accused Santosh Das had objected on December 6, 2021 before the election, calling that caste certificate fake. After investigation, the administration rejected the objection. The election was over and Kavita Biswal was elected councilor from the ward. Even after winning the election, the accused Santosh Das did not give up on the councilor. He started threatening to defame the councillor. He contacted Councilor Kavita Biswal on January 3 through another person and demanded Rs 5 lakh.
In the event of non-payment of money, the accused also threatened to defame him. Councilor Kavita Biswal did not give money to the accused, then she filed a writ in the court after January 20, challenging the caste certificate. After this he again demanded the money and said that if he gets the money, he will withdraw the writ. After this, Councilor Kavita Biswal complained against the accused in Jamul police station.
After investigation, the police registered an FIR against the accused. Police said that the accused had blackmailed a woman councilor of Jamul and a former councilor and some government officials and extorted money from them in a similar manner. But, no one had complained against him. After the FIR was registered in this case, those people have also started coming forward.
