Till now we had heard of split captaincy, but now we will see split coaching. Yes, the England and Wales Cricket Board i.e. ECB has decided to have a separate coach for limited overs cricket for England’s men’s team, while the responsibility of coaching for the Test team is going to be given to a different person. Former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum will be the head coach of England’s Test team.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, New Zealand great Brendon McCullum will be the new Test coach of England. The deal between the ECB and McCullum has been finalized. An official announcement will also be made in a couple of days to appoint Brendon McCullum as the coach of the England Test team. Paul Collingwood has been appointed coach of England’s limited overs team after Chris Silverwood resigned.
Let us tell you, apart from Brendon McCullum, Gary Kirsten, Simon Katich and Graham Ford also interviewed for the position of England’s Test team coach, but the ECB has expressed confidence in McCullum. McCullum has a lot of experience in coaching. At present, he is the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders ie KKR and is a part of IPL 2022. The team has done well under his coaching.
