The Rail & Structural Mill of the plant on Tuesday set a new record of 37 nos. of daily production of 260 meter long rails of R-260 grade rail with special grade 60 E1 profile. On February 28, this figure was 36 nos. of daily production.
Rail & Structural Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant has also set a new record of daily production by rolling 736 blooms of R-260 grade rail with special grade 60 E-1 profile, which is 643 blooms established on 9th February last month. more than the daily production.
Indian Railways is moving towards higher speed and axle load in rail transport for which Railways has sought SAIL to produce micro-alloy rail steel. To meet this need, BSP has given special attention to the production of new R-260 grade rails. So that high yield strength can be provided to this rail. This new grade of rail being supplied by Bhilai will enable Indian Railways to cope with the increasing traffic pressure by ensuring availability of more efficient and longer service life rails. Also, the cycle time will increase further.
