Chargesheet against two accused
At the same time, Delhi Police has filed charge sheets before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Patiala House Court against Omkareshwar Thakur and Neeraj Bishnoi, accused of running Sulli Deals and Bulli Bai mobile app, bidding for women of a particular community in the virtual world.
A senior police officer said that Omkareshwar Thakur, who created the Sully Deals app, was arrested by the Delhi Police on January 8 this year. Charges have been made against him under sections 153A, 153B, 354A(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act.
Neeraj Bishnoi, a resident of Digambar area of Jorhat in Assam and studying B.Tech, was arrested on January 6. Charges have been made against him under sections 153A, 153B, 354A, 509 of the IPC and sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act. Chargesheets were filed against both in the CMM court on March 4. Both are in judicial custody since their arrest. Both of them took the help of GitHub platform to carry out their handiwork.
Delhi Police had taken suo motu cognizance in the matter
In July last year, when the case of Sully Deal App came to light, there was a sensation. The Delhi Police had registered a report in this matter by taking suo motu cognizance. After several months of investigation, the police arrested Neeraj Bishnoi, the conspirator of this case from Jorhat in Assam. Further investigation revealed that the conspirator of Bulli Bai app is also the same and was in touch with Omkareshwar Thakur through chat rooms on the internet.
