Tirupati. 7 killed and 54 injured after a bus fell into a valley in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. This accident happened late Saturday night.
A private bus fell into the valley after the driver lost control of the vehicle near Bakkarpeta, about 30 km from Tirupati.
63 members of the groom’s family were on the bus from Rajendra Nagar in Dharmavaram in Anantapur district. These people were going to Tiruchanur to attend the engagement.
According to the police, when the bus reached Bakkarpeta Ghat, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to negligence and due to this the bus fell into a 60-feet deep gorge.
There were no eyewitnesses on the road when the bus fell. Later some drivers heard the cries of the injured and informed the police.
The rescue workers engaged in the rescue work had to struggle a lot due to the darkness.
Tirupati Urban Superintendent of Police Venkatappala Naidu, Collector M. Harinarayan and others rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
All the 54 injured were taken to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati, where the condition of 4 is critical.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the incident. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
The officials informed the Chief Minister about the accident and the rescue work. Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy participated in the rescue work. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to ensure best possible treatment to the injured.
