121 people died in a stampede during Bhole Baba’s discourse in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. Most of the people who died in the stampede during this satsang were women. Most of the bodies have been identified. On the accident, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that an uncontrolled “Baba Bazaar” is running in the whole country. Business is going on in the name of religion. What is the background of these Babas? Who will investigate? Condolences will be expressed for a few days and then everything will be forgotten, because in our country the value of a human life is a cheque of Rs 2 lakh.
Sanjay Singh’s tweet
“Who will take responsibility for organising satsangs?”
On the other hand, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said, “This is a very sad and unfortunate incident. Such incidents keep happening in the country. A few years ago, a ‘satsang’ was organized in Navi Mumbai and a stampede occurred in which more than 50 people died. No one has control over such ‘satsangs’, these ‘babas’ and ‘maharajs’ call people and the administration is helpless. A law should be made… who will take responsibility for such ‘satsang’ events? Poor people participate in these events.”
After the accident, ‘Bhole Baba’, the satsang singer, is absconding
The ‘Bhole Baba’ of the satsang is absconding since the accident. Most of the followers died due to suffocation. Some people say that people slipped in the mud while running behind the preacher’s car, which caused a stampede. Lakhs of followers had reached the Phulrai village of Hathras district to attend the satsang organized by Baba Narayan Hari. Baba Narayan Hari is also popular by the name of Saakar Vishva Hari Bhole Baba.
