New Delhi. The Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup title. Soon after the team won, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the T20 format. The next day Ravindra Jadeja also announced his retirement from T20 cricket. In such a situation, discussions have started regarding the new captain of the Indian team in T20 cricket. According to sources, among the players whose names the BCCI is discussing, the current vice-captain of the team Hardik Pandya is considered the strongest contender for the captaincy. Apart from this, the names of keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, Surya Kumar Yadav who shined with his bat and Jaspreet Bumrah who waved the flag in bowling are included.
Hardik Pandya-
Hardik Pandya has a lot of experience in playing T20 matches. He has played 100 T20 International matches so far. Hardik has captained India in 16 matches in which Team India has won 10 matches. Gujarat Titans became the champion team of IPL 2022 under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya in its very first season. In the next season of 2023, Hardik took the Gujarat team to the finals, although he could not win the title.
Rishabh Pant-
Rishabh Pant is known for his good performance both in front of and behind the wicket. Pant, who has established himself as India’s explosive batsman, has also made his mark in wicketkeeping. Rishabh has played 74 matches in T20 International in which he has scored 1158 runs. Pant has also captained in 5 T20 International matches, in which the team has won 2 matches.
Surya Kumar Yadav-
Surya Kumar Yadav has played 68 matches in T20 International so far in which he has scored 2340 runs. Surya has captained India in 7 matches out of which India has won 5. During his captaincy innings, Surya has also scored a century in one match. The match turned around due to the catch taken by Surya in the World Cup final and Team India won.
Jasprit Bumrah-
India’s best bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has played 70 T20 International matches in his career so far in which he has taken 89 wickets. Bumrah has also captained India in 2 matches and won both the matches. Bumrah is the most senior player in the team after Rohit, Virat and Ravindra Jadeja. In many matches, Bumrah has led India to victory due to his excellent bowling.
