With the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the country. During this period, Section 144 i.e. prohibitory order will remain in force in the country. It is clear that four or more people cannot gather at one place without taking permission. But, still, many times other organizations including political parties start protesting against the ruling party. At the same time, some other organizations also gather to protest.
Farmers’ land is to be taken for the expansion of Hindustan Petroleum in Saresar of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh. Farmers protested against this on March 18. He said that the farmers would become landless due to the acquisition. They are also afraid that they will not get proper compensation for their land. At the same time, in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) protested against the Energy Corporation on March 19 regarding the problems of farmers. In such a situation, it is natural to raise the question whether protests can be carried out after the implementation of the code of conduct? Who allows this?
Protests are banned
After the implementation of the code of conduct, there are many such activities which are completely banned. Protest demonstrations are also included in the list of such works. The administration can take action as per law against those protesting during prohibitory orders. Even those protesting without permission can be sent to jail. There are restrictions on doing many things not only for common people but also for political parties and leaders. These also include a ban on protests by leaders after the implementation of the code of conduct. Let us tell you that the code of conduct is not a law. This is a process decided between the Election Commission and political parties.

Leaders cannot participate in the demonstration
According to the rules of the Model Code of Conduct, no leader, party, organization or common people can participate in activities like protests or demonstrations. After the implementation of the code of conduct, leaders and parties are not allowed to gather and talk on any issue that may lead to a breakdown of law and order in the area. If any leader is found protesting, his election nomination can be cancelled. Besides, strict action can also be taken against him as per the rules. Even the leaders who gather crowds and knock on the doors of voters violate the rules of the code of conduct.
How is permission for public meeting obtained?
After the implementation of the Code of Conduct, if any party, leader, organization or common people has to hold a public meeting and talk on any issue, then prior permission has to be taken from the District Election Officer. All the candidates have to give complete information to the Election Commission representative a few days in advance based on the estimated number of people attending the public meeting. After getting permission, the leaders hold a public meeting. At the same time, for the public meetings of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other Union Ministers, the party office of the area provides complete information to the District Election Officer. After this, the administration looks after all the arrangements following the protocol.

Under which section action will be taken
All other religious places including temples, mosques, churches, gurudwaras will not be used as election campaign platforms. There will be a ban on transporting voters to polling centers by vehicles. No person shall use or carry any mobile phone, cellphone or wireless within a radius of 200 meters from the polling stations on the day of polling. This restriction will not apply to personnel, officers and police officers deployed on election duty. The model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of India will have to be followed. In case of violation of prohibitory order, action will be taken under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code 1860.

Ban on carrying deadly weapons
With the announcement of elections, all license holders are asked to deposit their weapons at the police station for peaceful and fair elections. No person will be able to carry a deadly weapon. When Section 144 is implemented, people cannot participate in public meetings, rallies, processions with guns, rifles, spears, spears, sticks or other deadly weapons and explosive materials. Political parties or candidates cannot take out processions with weapons. The ban on distributing objectionable posters will also remain in force. There will be a ban on meetings, rallies or processions without the approval of the competent authority.
