Colombo. Just before the Indian Premier League starting from March 22, Sunrisers Hyderabad has suffered a big setback. The Sri Lankan spinner, whom the Hyderabad franchise had included in its team by bidding Rs 1.50 crore, has been ruled out of the initial matches of IPL 2024. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga will be seen playing in the Test series against Bangladesh instead of IPL.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is against Kolkata Knight Riders on 23 March. The Hyderabad team led by Pat Cummins will face Mumbai Indians on March 27 and Gujarat Titans on March 31. It remains to be seen whether Hasaranga will be available in the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 5 or not.

Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka has played four test matches for Sri Lanka. He retired from Test cricket last year to focus on white ball games (ODI and T20). But this Hasaranga was selected in the 17-member Sri Lankan team on Tuesday. Sri Lanka-Bangladesh: The first Test will be played in Sylhet from March 22 and the second Test will be played in Chittagong from March 30.
Wanindu Hasaranga played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last season of IPL. After the season, the RCB team released him. After this, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Hasaranga in the IPL auction for a base price of Rs 1.5 crore.
