Releasing the report, ADR Convenor Sanjay Singh said that according to the affidavits given by the candidates, the most tainted candidates are in this phase. In this phase, 185 candidates have criminal cases registered against them. In this, 42 out of 57 candidates of SP, 25 out of 52 of BJP, 23 out of 61 candidates of Congress and BSP have criminal cases registered against them.
Among the candidates who are facing serious charges are Yash Bhadra Singh, who is contesting from Isauli assembly seat of Sultanpur of BSP, Sandeep Yadav of Samajwadi Party from Allahabad North assembly seat, Mukesh Srivastava from Payagpur assembly constituency of Bahraich. Cases of harassment of women have been registered against 12 candidates, in which Sultanpur Samajwadi Party candidate Anoop Sanda is facing rape case. There are 8 candidates who have stated that they are accused of murder.
36 percent candidates millionaires
In the fifth phase, 246 candidates have declared themselves to be crorepatis. 47 out of 52 candidates of BJP, 49 out of 59 of SP, 44 out of 61 of BSP and 30 out of 61 of Congress have declared themselves as crorepatis. Among the top three crorepati candidates, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Amethi candidate Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh has assets worth Rs 58 crore, BJP’s Sindhuja Mishra from Pratapgarh’s Kunda assembly seat has assets worth Rs 52 crore. In third place is also Dr. Sanjay Singh from Amethi assembly seat of BJP, who has declared his assets as 50 crores.
More than half of the candidates are educated more than graduate
In this phase, out of 685, 407 candidates have declared their educational qualification as graduation or above. 231 candidates have declared their educational qualification between 5th and 12th. 2 candidates are Diploma holders. 32 candidates have declared their educational qualification as literate and 6 candidates have declared their educational qualification as illiterate. 7 candidates have not declared their educational qualification only.
36 percent young candidates
In the fifth phase, 248 candidates are in the age group of 25 to 40 years. The number of candidates between 41 to 60 years is 368. 69 candidates are between 61 to 80 years. The number of female candidates in this phase is 90.
