new Delhi. After registering a case against a sub-inspector of Delhi Police, the CBI has now registered a case of disproportionate assets against him. It registered a fresh case against alleged accused Delhi Police SI Bhojraj Singh on Tuesday on the recommendation of its superiors. Singh was posted at Maidan Garhi police station.
In October 2021, Singh was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a person in return for a favor in a case. Singh had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh from him.
Singh had demanded Rs 2 lakh as token amount. The police had registered a case against the man and his friend at Maidan Garhi police station. Singh had promised to help them and not to oppose the bail. Later the man approached the CBI who laid a trap and arrested the SI taking bribe.
During the search operation Rs 1.7 crore in cash was recovered from Singh’s house. The CBI also recovered Rs 5,47,350 from Singh’s car. A case was registered against Singh and he was arrested.
The probe agency proceeded with the investigation and it was found that Singh had amassed huge assets which did not match with his income.
“The details of the investigation in respect of his income, expenditure revealed that Singh had disproportionate assets worth Rs 98 lakh,” the CBI FIR said.
A senior CBI official said that now they have filed a fresh case against Singh for offenses punishable under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(2), 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act. has been registered.
Further investigation is on in the matter.
