A dangerous indigenous virus has spread in four states of the country. The name of this virus is Chandipur virus, due to which the number of children dying has increased to 12. According to sources in the Union Health Ministry, the National Institute of Virology (NIV Pune) has been put on alert.
Dr. M Bajpai, former HOD of Pediatrics Department at AIIMS, told AnyTV India that 70 out of 100 children may die due to this virus. Dr. M Bajpai said that the mortality rate in this is 56 to 70 percent.
How to protect children from viruses?
Dr. M Bajpai told that this virus can cause death in a very short time i.e. in 24 to 48 hours. Therefore it is important to take care of hygiene. Cleanliness is required. Wear full sleeve clothes. Protect yourself from mosquitoes. As soon as symptoms appear, go to the hospital immediately. There is no anti-virus therapy in this. If the patient reaches the hospital early, then the treatment will be done on time.
What are the symptoms?
Dr. M Bajpai said that just like the common symptoms of flu, almost the same symptoms are found in this as well such as fever, headache, diarrhea, seizures can also occur, it attacks the brain very quickly. Very quickly the child goes into coma and can even lead to death. Therefore, do not take such symptoms lightly in this season.

Why is it named Chandipur virus?
In 1965, its first case was found in Chandipur near Nagpur in Maharashtra. Because of that, this virus was named Chandipura. This virus was reported in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat in the years 2004, 2006 and 2019. In the year 2007, case reports were also registered in Andhra Pradesh and its cases have been coming from time to time.

Where did this virus spread?
After spreading its tentacles in Gujarat, Chandipura virus has engulfed children in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Blood samples of all the children have been sent to the National Institute of Virology for confirmation (NIV) in Pune. Its cases have been reported in Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar and Rajkot of Gujarat. Gujarat Health Ministry claims that 8600 people have been screened so far in the areas where the spread of Chandipur virus has been reported. The entire area here has been divided into 26 zones.
Surveillance in districts where Chandipura virus is spreading
According to sources, surveillance has been increased rapidly in those areas of Gujarat where virus infection is being reported. Along with this, advisories are also being issued through social media and other means. If any suspect is coming to these areas, then he should be treated on priority basis.
