Palpur. Today is the birthday of PM Narendra Modi and on this occasion, today is also very important for the country. Cheetahs are going to be seen again in India from today. After 74 years, the speed of cheetahs will be seen again in the country. Eight cheetahs are being brought from faraway Namibia. PM Modi is going to leave them in the enclosures made in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Till 1948, there were cheetahs in the country. Then a king hunted the last remaining 3 cheetahs. As a result, in 1952 this magnificent animal was declared extinct from the soil of India.
In the year 2002, the then central government once again tried to bring cheetah to India. Earlier talks were held with Iran, but the government there told that only 20 cheetahs are left with it. After this talks were held with the government of Namibia and South Africa and now cheetahs are coming here. 8 cheetahs are coming before Namibia. Then 12 cheetahs will be brought from South Africa. In total, there are plans to bring 50 cheetahs from Namibia and South Africa in the next 5 years. The cheetahs that are being released into the Kuno National Park today are 5 females and 3 males. All of them are between 4 and a half to 5 and a half years old.

There was a time in India, when cheetahs were found in large parts. History books reveal that there used to be about 10,000 cheetahs in the country during the time of Mughal emperor Akbar. Akbar himself used to keep cheetahs. These cheetahs were used by Mughal emperors and landlords to hunt them. Then during the British era, cheetahs started being hunted and due to being domesticated, the fertility of these magnificent animals also decreased. As a result, cheetahs became less visible in the forest. The last three cheetahs were hunted in Madhya Pradesh and after 5 years of independence, they became extinct from the country. Now the government plans to increase the number of these cheetahs and resettle them in all the national parks of the country. It is expected that this fastest hunter of wild animals will flourish here once again.
