China has been watching Taiwan for much longer than Russia has been eyeing Ukraine for a long time. In such a situation, China has taken the Russian attack on Ukraine as a lesson. Like Ukraine, China’s attack is being feared on Taiwan all over the world, but at the moment this possibility does not seem remote. Taiwanese officials also do not agree with the statements of ‘Today Ukraine and tomorrow Taiwan’s turn’. He says that China cannot even think of doing this. However, looking at China’s record, nothing can be said for sure.
At a seminar organized by the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Law and Politics, Professor Akio Takahara said, “I understand that the war in Ukraine is being closely monitored by the Chinese side. For example, China wants to know how weapons were used in this war and how successful they were. Why are Russian forces not succeeding and how are Ukrainian forces able to defend? The Chinese army is keeping an eye on all these sides. Apart from this, China is also assessing the economic sanctions imposed on Russia, which have been imposed by Western countries.
China would like to conquer Taiwan without fighting?
Professor Takahara said, ‘I understand that China’s policy regarding Taiwan will be that the force is not used too much. Instead he would be thinking of Shun Tzu’s policy of the Art of War. It is clear that this fight of China against Taiwan will continue and it will avoid going directly into the war. Experts agree that Ukraine and Taiwan have many similarities. Apart from this, the dangers in front of both are also similar. On the one hand, Ukraine is facing the threat of Russia, which has been considering it as its own part. Similarly, China has been promoting Taiwan as its part culturally. This is the reason that along with the attack on Ukraine, the world has started expressing concern about the future of Taiwan.
Taiwan’s president expressed fear of attack from China
Taiwan’s President Tsai Ying Wen said in January that his country had long suffered military threats from China. So we can understand the situation in Ukraine. However, Taiwan’s sovereignty has not been as clear as that of Ukraine. It is also not recognized by the United Nations. However, aid has been continuously given to Taiwan from the US.
