New York/Islamabad: China is no longer able to trust its friend Pakistan. Therefore, it has warned to end all its business with Pakistan. This has created panic in Islamabad. In such a situation, Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi is now busy wooing Beijing. He said on Thursday that Pakistan is ‘proud’ of the friendship of its eternal partner country China. Now ‘strong arrangements’ have been made for the security of Chinese citizens working on big infrastructure projects in some of the struggling provinces of the country.
Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Qi Yanzum at the China Mission Office at the United Nations (UN) in New York, Geo News reported. Both ministers are currently attending a UN conference. “Strict arrangements have been made for the security of Chinese citizens,” Naqvi said. Naqvi briefed his Chinese counterpart about the progress of the investigation into the Dasu terror attack in Pakistan, in which several Chinese citizens were killed.
Beijing is upset over the death of Chinese citizens
On March 26, a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers in the remote Besham area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. This convoy of Chinese citizens was going towards the construction site of Dasu Hydroelectric Power Plant in Kohistan district of the province. Five Chinese citizens and the driver were killed in the attack. The driver was a Pakistani. Naqvi was quoted in the news as saying, “We are all proud of our friendship with China.”
According to the news, after the meeting, the Chinese minister expressed satisfaction over the investigation being conducted in the case and said that Pakistan has handled the investigation of the case in a responsible and professional manner. He said, “Pakistan and China have always been friends. Pakistan-China friendship is very strong.” Both the ministers also discussed bilateral relations and security issues in the region. (Language)
