Jagdalpur. Under the Saraswati Cycle Scheme of the state government, the situation of confusion created regarding distribution of cycles to the girl students studying in class IX in government schools will end soon. Cycle distribution is to be made to about five thousand four hundred girl students in the district in the current academic session. After issuing a demand letter to the selected agency to provide bicycles from the District Education Office, consignments of parts for making cycles have started coming.
Cycle preparation work will be done in all the seven development blocks of the district so that cycles can be distributed on time. It may be noted that due to the Corona epidemic disaster, there has been a continuous delay in the distribution of cycles for the last two years. Last year, about five thousand three hundred girl students were given cycles. The number of girl students has increased this year. According to the information received, due to non-receipt of budget allocation for distribution of cycles in some districts of the state, there was confusion regarding Bastar.
Cycles will be made available to girl students in March-April
On discussion with District Education Officer Bharti Pradhan, he said that a plan has been made to provide cycles to girl students in March-April. The work has also been started as per the deadline. Here, departmental sources said that under the Saraswati Cycle Scheme, there is a rule to give cycles to the girl students enrolled in the ninth. Provision has been made in the scheme to give cycles at the beginning of the academic session, but cycle distribution is not possible at the beginning of the academic session. Every year cycle distribution is possible only at the end of the academic session.
In March-April, either the examinations are going on or they are on the verge of ending, in such a situation, it will be troublesome for the girl students of village and village to go to the development block office and take a cycle from the point of view of preparation for the examination. It would have been better if the important work of distributing cycles to the girls was completed before December, then they would have come to school at least riding a bicycle.
