New Delhi. There is a war of words between Bollywood actress and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi Kangana Ranaut and Congress leader Supriya Shrinet. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Congress leader Supriya Srinet and BJP MP Dilip Ghosh regarding this entire matter. The Election Commission on Wednesday issued a notice to Dilip Ghosh for posting objectionable posts against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Supriya Shrinet and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana got Lok Sabha ticket!
BJP has fielded Kangana Ranaut from Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh. Congress leader Supriya Shrinet had made a controversial post regarding Kangana on her alleged social media handle. However, Supriya later deleted the post.
Complaint filed with Election Commission
Controversy has arisen over the objectionable posts of BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut and Congress leaders Supriya Shrinet and HS Ahir from Mandi Lok Sabha seat. On Tuesday, the National Commission for Women had filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding her objectionable post. The National Commission for Women had termed this as against the dignity and respect of women and had demanded immediate action from the Election Commission.
What did the Election Commission say?
The Election Commission (ECI) said his comments were inappropriate and derogatory. The election panel said both the comments violated the model code of conduct and advisory for political parties to maintain dignity during election campaigns. Both have been asked to explain the reason for the notice by March 29 evening.
What is the dispute between Kangana Ranaut and Supriya Shrinet?
BJP had also filed a complaint against Congress in the Election Commission regarding the post against Kangana. The entire controversy arose when Congress leader Supriya Shrinet made an objectionable post on her Instagram account with the picture of the actress and asked, “What is happening in the market?” However, as the controversy escalated, Supriya Shrinet deleted the post and clarified that she had not done so. In fact, someone else managing her meta (Instagram and Facebook) accounts made the mistake. She could not even think of posting such an objectionable post about a woman.
Supriya Shrinet’s reply to Kangana
She said she would take action against parody accounts using her name. Responding to Supriya’s post, Kangana said, “In the last 20 years of my career as an artiste, I have played all types of female characters. We should free our daughters from the shackles of prejudice. We must rise above curiosity about their body parts. Every woman deserves dignity and respect.”
