New Delhi. In Rajasthan, BJP is preparing to give a big blow to Congress soon. Prominent tribal leader and MLA Mahendrajit Malviya, who represents Bagidoura assembly constituency, is reportedly in touch with the BJP and may join them any time. If Malviya leaves the party, it will be a big blow for Congress just before the Lok Sabha elections. He was notably absent from Sonia Gandhi’s nomination list. It is said that Malviya is dissatisfied with Congress. He has a distinct identity as a tribal leader in southern Rajasthan. His constituency, Bagidaura, is part of the Mewar region, comprising the former districts of Bhilwara, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur, which was largely reorganized on August 4 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Malviya first won as a Janata Party MLA in 2008 and managed to retain his seat in 2013 by defeating BJP’s Khemraj Garasia despite a strong anti-incumbency wave against the Congress. He defeated Garcia again in 2018.
In 2020, Malviya’s name surfaced in connection with efforts to topple the Ashok Gehlot government by a group led by Tonk MLA Sachin Pilot and his loyal MLAs. His name was mentioned in the preliminary investigation in connection with attempts to topple the government through an alleged audio clip leaked during the political crisis that year, where some persons were reportedly heard saying that Malviya Pilot’s They were together, but later they changed sides.
