New Delhi. The Congress party is actively engaged in preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with Rahul Gandhi leading it with his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’. Meanwhile, the top leadership of the party is also deliberating on the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. According to sources, Congress may release its first list of candidates on Friday. The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress Party is currently in session, where the names of candidates from various states will be approved for the Lok Sabha elections. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Sonia Gandhi and many other leaders are participating in the meeting. The names of the candidates sent by various screening committees are finalized during the CEC meeting.
Screening committee meetings have already been held for Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and some other states. Sources reveal that during the CEC meeting, the names of candidates for the Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka and North-Eastern states will be discussed and the first list of candidates can be released within a few days.
Congress has not yet announced any candidate for the general elections, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently released a list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
