New Delhi. In the midst of the overthrow of power in Maharashtra, now the misfortune of the Congress can be seen in Goa. On Sunday, there was news that out of the current 11 Congress MLAs, 6 to 10 MLAs may join the BJP camp. At the same time, the state president and in-charge of Congress accused the BJP of luring its MLAs to their side. Now it is reported that five out of 11 Congress MLAs in Goa are not in touch. After the disappearance of five out of 11 MLAs, the Congress party seems to be in crisis, in such a situation, party President Sonia Gandhi came into action and asked senior party leader Mukul Wasnik in the state. Sent to Goa to keep an eye on the latest political developments.
A day earlier, the opposition Congress in Goa had told that five of its 11 MLAs in the state could not be contacted. Apart from this, the party had also accused two of its MLAs Michael Lobo and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat of conspiring against the party with the help of BJP. Giving information about this on the eve of the state assembly session, Congress’s Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao had said that Lobo and Kamat as well as three other party MLAs were “unreachable” while five others- Elton D’Costa, Sankalp Amonkar, Yuri Alemao, Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Rudolph Fernandes were present in this press conference.
Accused BJP
Congress’ Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao further said, “LoP Michael Lobo and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat were conspiring with the BJP to ensure defection in the Congress in Goa. The party has decided to remove Lobo from the post of Leader of Opposition. He said, “The sixth MLA, Alexo Sequeira, is in touch with the party leaders and is with the Congress.” The ruling BJP currently has 20 MLAs. Along with this, he has also got the support of five others. In the last assembly elections held in February this year, the Congress had won 11 seats.
Lobo removed from Leader of Opposition
On behalf of the Congress party, Lobo has been removed from the post of Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Goa Legislative Assembly. Announcing this on the eve of the state assembly session, Dinesh Gundu Rao said that Lobo and Kamat as well as three other party MLAs are “not able to be contacted”. Recently, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the neighboring state of Maharashtra, led by Eknath Shinde, fell due to the rebellion of some MLAs of the ruling Shiv Sena. Now it has to be seen whether a similar incident will be seen in Goa or whether Sonia will be able to save her MLAs.
