new Delhi . Amid discontent within the Congress, the G-23 group on Tuesday demanded fixing the accountability of the party president. Speaking to -AnyTV News, former MP Sandeep Dikshit said, “The Congress president should have accessibility, acceptability and accountability.”
He said that access to the people and party leaders, acceptance within the public and accountability in view of the loss should be for the Speaker and it should also be the role model for the state chief ministers and state heads.
He said that family is not acceptable to the people and this is evident in the frequent failures in election after election, and they are not available to anyone, including party leaders.
Dikshit said, “In 90 per cent of the cases, the Congress is pitted against the Congress, which is backed by top AICC leaders. These leaders are full of arrogance and have held high positions for a long time.”
He alleged that the sycophants have put the party in trouble.
Saying that members like him are not going to leave the party and will keep fighting. “We have no plans but to fight for the revival,” he said.
Days after the Congress Working Committee meeting, senior party leader Kapil Sibal on Tuesday demanded that “Gandhis should be given a chance to lead the party apart from the leadership role”.
Since the 2014 election defeat, the Congress has lost successive elections except on a few occasions.
