Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in an interview to PTI on Sunday that India will never give up its claim on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). However, he said that India will not have to occupy it by using force because after seeing the development of Jammu and Kashmir, the people there want to leave Pakistan. Reacting to his statement, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said that Pakistan “does not wear bangles” and also has nuclear bombs.
Rajnath Singh said that the way peace and development has returned to Jammu and Kashmir, there will soon be a demand to merge PoK with India. He said, “We will not have to use force to take PoK because people will say that we have to merge with India. Such demands are coming now. PoK was, is and will remain India’s territory.”
Elections will be held soon in Jammu and Kashmir – Rajnath said
Rajnath Singh also claimed that elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir soon. However, he did not give any time for this. He also said that soon there will be no need for AFSPA in Jammu and Kashmir. He also asked Pakistan to stop promoting cross-border terrorism. Responding to his comments, Farooq Abdullah challenged Rajnath Singh to take back Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Farooq Abdullah took a dig
Abdullah said that “If the Defense Minister is saying then go ahead. Who are we to stop. But remember, they (Pakistan) are also not wearing bangles. They have nuclear bombs, and unfortunately, that nuclear bomb is not what we are.” But it will fall.” Farooq Abdullah predicted that Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be announced after the Amarnath Yatra.
Reacting to yesterday’s attack on security forces in Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and said that terrorism continues despite the removal of Article 370. He said, “The main problem is the tension between India and Pakistan. “Countries should talk to each other and resolve issues.”
